China Center for Type Culture Collection (CCTCC) located in WUHAN university main campus, is one of main organizations appointed by the State Intellectual Property Office of P.R.C (SIPO) and funded by the Ministry of Education for the deposit of patent-related biological materials in 1985. CCTCC has been a member of World Federation for Culture Collections (WFCC) since 1987 and has been an international depositary authority (IDA) under the Budapest Treaty on the International Recognition of the Deposit of Microorganisms for the Purposes of Patent Procedure since 1995. CCTCC has been acquired the certification of ISO 9001 to maintain and improve the quality of its service.

CCTCC's collection currently comprise more than 30,000 items from 22 countries or regions, including bacteria, archaea, fungi, single- celled algae, bacteriophages and animal/plant viruses; human and animal cell lines, genetically modified cell lines, hybridomas; plant tissue cultures and plant seeds; cloning vectors, genes and DNA libraries. Among them are more than 4,000 patent cultures and more than 1000 microbial type strains. CCTCC can supply information on various biological subjects, and can provide certain identification/test services for biological materials, and has a research project for biological resources. In addition, CCTCC provides customized and value-added services based on the science and technology in the biological resources.
